ABOUT ME

Born in Ireland and predominantly brought up in Cornwall. Poldark and The Onedin Line were massive hits at the time. We moved so many times I lost count and childhood was not the happiest, but time living in the same area as Daphne Du Maurier of Frenchman's Creek fame, leaves wonderful memories of such a beautiful place to be as a child. I left school with a pitiful handful of o’levels, a book of my poems and just about able to play a flute. I wrote poems and stories as soon as I could use a pencil. I wanted to work where I could write but was deterred from continuing my education. I proceeded to spend the rest of my adult life studying in an over compensatory fashion, whilst doing any odd job I could get my hands on. Courses were all and sundry, including Medical Secretarial Diploma (got drunk the night before, forgot about the exam and only got the Certificate), Institute of Marketing Diploma, Year 1, graphology with Hubert Desenclos, Ilex Law Part 1 and a BSc in Information Systems & Management, Years 1 and 2. I worked for 14 years in a law firm first as a PA, legal assistant and then crash learning and implementing IT systems and writing legal workflow systems. Much Life continued. I took up sculpture and never gave up writing poetry. I stopped commuting, got married, started a family and eventually acquired a Leonberger dog. Once my daughter was two, I started studies the Law of Succession to become a will maker and scribbled away until I realised I was writing my first novel. I wrote at every opportunity and washed up only when necessary. Life suffered a hiatus when I discovered I had a large benign brain tumour being the cause of many years of the severe pain of trigeminal neuralgia. Despite the cocktail of drugs I still managed to study and write my first book but I complained to my Consultant I could not always find the words and sentences. This complaint was apparently amusing as some people could barely remain vertical on the drugs I was on. The operation to fix it however became a removal of the brain tumour, pulmonary embolism as a result and eye surgeries. The recovery was long. I am incredibly lucky the outcome has been so good and I can see, write and read again. An ending of a toxic marriage and difficult circumstances enabled me to relocate to the coast with my two children where I can hear the sea every day from my front door. Having, taken a few years to get back onto my feet that is indeed where I am, back on my feet. Qualified now as an Accredited Mediator and in Wills and Estate Planning with a whole new poetry collection, and more, and two new books in "scribbles in my head" stage, I am again, on my way.
